DeCamp Burn & Wound Healing Center
The DeCamp Burn & Wound Healing Center provides adults and children the latest treatment options for moderate to severe burns and complex wounds. Whether caused by heat, chemicals, electricity, or another source, severe burns are often disfiguring and debilitating. Conditions such as infection, diabetes, and vascular disease may delay or complicate the healing of wounds. At the University of Virginia, our specialized team brings together advances from our research laboratories and the refined abilities of our talented surgeons to provide comprehensive burn and wound treatment in Charlottesville for patients from Richmond and Roanoke, VA, and beyond.

Meet Our SurgeonsOur Multidisciplinary Team
Located on the 5th floor of the University Hospital, the DeCamp Burn & Wound Healing Center is a 6-bed extension of the surgical intensive care unit. The Center is dedicated to treating a range of burn injuries. It also offers specialized treatment and management of complex wounds, whether acute or chronic. The focus is on treating the whole patient both physically and emotionally. Our multidisciplinary team includes:
- Plastic surgeons
- Wound-care specialists
- Psychologists
- Nutritionists
- Physical and occupational therapists
The Center and its patients benefit from our University setting by having access to the latest information, technology, and scientific advances, including:
- Consultation with specialists in other departments.
- Harvested autografts and a topical antimicrobial cream from our Burn Support Laboratory and Wound Healing Laboratory.
- Hyperbaric oxygen therapy from our Hyperbaric Oxygen Treatment Center.
